Privacy & Terms

Short version: your words live on your iPhone. No ads, no analytics, no tracking. If you turn on Auto-Translate, we keep an anonymous account and a usage counter — never the words you translate.
Privacy
Your words stay on your device
Words, packs, test results and settings are stored only on your iPhone and shared with the WordCard widget on the same device. They are not uploaded to our server or synced anywhere. Deleting the app deletes them.
No tracking
WordCard has no ads, no analytics, no third-party tracking SDKs and does not use the advertising identifier. This website uses no cookies and no trackers.
Auto-Translate (optional)
You can use WordCard without an account. If you want automatic translations, you sign in with Apple. We do not ask Apple for your name or email. Our server stores:
- an anonymous Apple user identifier;
- an Apple token used only to revoke Sign in with Apple when you delete your account;
- a session token (hashed) to keep you signed in;
- your translation usage balance;
- for each translation request: word or sentence, the language pair, whether it succeeded, technical usage figures (model, size, cost) and the time. The text you translate and the result are not stored.
To produce the translation, the text you submit is sent to OpenAI, together with an anonymized identifier that lets abuse be traced to one account. We ask OpenAI not to store requests; OpenAI may still keep them briefly for abuse monitoring under its API terms, and does not use API data to train models.
Purchases
Translation usages are bought through the App Store. Apple handles payment; we never see your payment details. We receive and keep the transaction ID, the product and its date so usages can be added to your account, and we are notified by Apple if a purchase is refunded.
Deleting your account
In the app, open Account → Delete Account. This removes your account, sessions, balance, purchase records and translation history from our server and revokes Sign in with Apple for WordCard. The only thing kept is an anonymous one-way hash noting that starter usages were already given, so they are not handed out twice.
Sharing
We do not sell or share your data. It is processed only by the services needed to run the feature: Apple (sign-in and purchases), OpenAI (translation) and our server host.
Children
WordCard does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Terms of Use
The app
WordCard is provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind. The Apple standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement applies together with these terms.
Translations
Translations, definitions and examples are generated by AI and may be inaccurate. Check anything important.
Translation usages
- Usages are one-time purchases, not a subscription, and do not expire.
- One usage is spent per translation; it is returned if the translation fails on our side.
- Usages have no cash value and cannot be transferred.
- Refunds are handled by Apple. Refunded usages are removed from your balance.
- Deleting your account removes any unused usages.
Fair use
Auto-Translate has per-minute and per-day limits. Do not misuse the service, access it outside the app, or try to disrupt it. We may suspend accounts that do.
Changes
We may change or discontinue features, and update these terms. The date above shows the latest version.
